Youths learn radio skills

Outback Radio 2WEB and the Bourke SPIRIT Program have combined to organise radio workshops for local youth during the school holiday break.
Scheduled to run over a four-day period the three-hour sessions aimed at introducing local young people to opportunities that are available in the media industry.
A Covid scare cut the workshop short by one day, but the group of would-be radio personalities still enjoyed three days of practical instruction.
2WEB’s Chris Dover and Noni Kuhner took time from their busy schedules and introduced Trae Wilson, Shaunee Elwood, Anastasia Cubby, Katrina Gersbach and Letaliah Burford to the various skills of announcing, interviewing and studio operations.
“The kids were very enthusiastic and had fun interviewing each other, playing their favourite songs and reading a news bulletin,” Chris Dover said.
Chris covered some of the technical aspects of studio craft including basic announcing, voice tracking and how to use the software needed to bring a modern radio broadcast to life.
