Young creatives put pen and pencil to work

Young writers and artists from across outback schools have come together in Bourke for a series of creative workshops with acclaimed author and illustrator Dub Leffler.

The recent visit, organised through literary organisation WestWords, brought students from several schools to Bourke High School, which acted as a hub for the program.

“Participating schools included Cobar High School, Bourke High, Bourke Public School, St Ignatius Parish School, Enngonia Public School, Girilambone Public School and Wanaaring Public School, along with students from other small rural schools,” Bourke High School Teacher Librarian Barbara McGuigan said.

Mr Leffler, an author and illustrator whose work spans both writing and visual storytelling, worked directly with the students during the visit.[…]
