Yellowbelly fires up Lightning Ridge crowd

Bourke band Yellowbelly delivered a powerful headline performance before a big crowd at Hungry Spirit in Lightning Ridge on Saturday night.
The concert formed part of Hungry Spirit’s open mic and headline series, created by co-founder and arts developer Rebel Black to give regional artists a dedicated audience and paid opportunities to perform.
Rebel said the property had been operating for 22 years, with Tin Camp Studios established about five years ago in partnership with Goodooga man Warren Mason.
The outdoor studio was created as a safe space where artists and people from different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs could share stories and connect.
Yellowbelly bass player Kobie Lollback said the show had been several months in the making.
“Rebel invited us out and asked if we would like to play. We were like, ‘Hell yeah, we’d love to,’” he said.
“We’ve been teeing this up for four or five months, waiting to get the timing right. It’s turned out to be amazing – there are an incredible number of people here.” […]
