Yellow Wiggle at Bre Preschool tomorrow

Gainmara Birrilee Pre-school has served the Brewarrina community for fifty years and even one of the Wiggles is turning out to celebrate!
Back in 1974, a local preschool was established in Brewarrina by the Save the Children charity and gifted to the Aboriginal community of Brewarrina in 1992, with the aim of self-management and self-determination.
At the handover, the Elders of the local Aboriginal community named the preschool Gainmara Birrilee which, in Ngemba language, means a gathering of young children gaining knowledge with their hands in a learning environment.
“Our emblem reflects that as well,” Preschool Director, Frayne Barker said.
“There is a teacher or parent in the middle with children around the teacher and the dots surrounding them indicate the learning environment.”
This year, the Gainmara Birrilee Pre-school will have been an important part of the Brewarrina community for half a century, with celebrations planned this week to mark this great achievement, including a visit from celebrity “Wiggle,” Emma Memma. […]
