Students and staff members at Bourke Public school celebrated World Teachers’ Day in style on Friday (October 27)

The organiser of the event, Lisa Rankmore, said it’s the one day of the year that the community can show its appreciation for the work teachers do.

“World Teachers’ Day allows us to thank our amazing teachers at Bourke Public School,” Lisa said. “Our teachers go above and beyond to ensure all our students get the best education.”

The celebration at Bourke Public School began with a breakfast club of bacon and egg rolls for all the students and teachers to share.

“We also had a lovely poem, read by our students, a morning tea and some treats in the afternoon,” Lisa said.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all our learning support officers for making their class teachers feel so special,” she said. “Also, thanks to Ellie Milgate, Ros Milgate, Jackie Davis, Thiyama-li, and Patty McGirr for helping make this event possible.”

World Teachers’ Day is an international celebration of the work of teachers. It focuses on ‘appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world and considering issues relating to teaching’.
