Wonderful Walgett Show Weekend

The showers didn’t dampen spirits at this year’s Walgett Show, though wet conditions forced the cancellation of the campdraft and brought fewer people through the gates.

Walgett Show Society President Dave Berrell said closed roads prevented some people from getting into town with gate numbers dropping 15 percent from last year.

“However, even with the rain, we’re still happy with the way it all panned out,” Mr Berrell said.

Most of the entertainment went ahead as scheduled on Saturday and Sunday, though Bluey and Bingo were unable to get to Walgett due to flood waters north of Goondiwindi. […]
