Women’s retreat puts Lower Lila on the map

Strong feedback from a women’s gathering at Lower Lila Retreat is prompting plans for longer stays and expanded programs.

Owner Heather Cameron said the recent retreat brought together women aged from 16 to their mid-70s, creating a venue for open conversation and reflection across generations.

“One of the biggest things that stood out was how hard people are on themselves,” Heather said.  “The way they speak to themselves is something they would never say to anyone else.”

The retreat was supported by facilitator Kerry Phipps, who said many participants found value in simply taking time out to stop and talk honestly.

“When people slow down and actually say what’s been sitting in the background, they realise they’re not the only one feeling that way,” she said.

Discussions over the weekend covered a range of topics, including life transitions, identity and navigating different stages of life, with participants sharing personal experiences in a supportive environment. […]
