Western Division Councils meet in Cobar

The Western Division Councils of NSW had their latest meeting at Cobar last week, with plenty of topics for discussion.

The Western Division covers 42% of the state, with more than 53,000 residents generating over $1 billion in annual economic activity.

Councils in the group are Broken Hill, Balranald, Central Darling, Wentworth, Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett, Warren, Carrathool, and Cobar

Ross Earl, Acting General Manager of Bourke Shire Council said the meetings were always a great chance to network.

“It’s good to bring the Western Division Councils together,” Mr Earl said. “They all have similar problems and issues and it’s a good information gathering event with very informative speakers.”

The Cobar meeting went longer than a typical Western Division meeting as the annual conference will not happen this year due to the upcoming local government elections meaning some elected councillors will potentially not hold positions in September. […]
