We made it — 2WEB Radiothon raises $100k!

It was a massive effort involving 2WEB, the Western Herald, the Bourke Rotary Club, Bourke Men’s Shed, and countless businesses and communities across the western region, with the end result being a huge success for the Macquarie Homestay Radiothon.

By Monday evening, Bourke Rotary Club President Leonie Brown could confidently declare – ‘We did it!’

The goal was to raise $100,000 for Macquarie Homestay, a much-needed facility for people across the western region. On Monday morning the total was $95,993. With donations from the Bourke Rotary Club and others, along with late bids, the tally clocked over to the magic $100,000 total by Monday evening.

Mrs Brown said she was thrilled but not altogether surprised that the communities in the west came through.

“What a great day and how much fun did we have here in the studio?” Mrs Brown said.

“It was fantastic, listening to the banter of everyone in the building, watching the tally on the screen go up – I can’t thank everyone enough.

“On Monday morning we were still about $4000 short of our target, but we had further cash donations and people also hopped online and made late bids, and then Bourke Rotary club made up the difference,” she said. […]
