A Bourke man who has seen firsthand the impact of drugs and mental health challenges in small communities is now working to support others, after completing a qualification in the sector.
Former Bourke man, Wayne Knight, has graduated with a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and Mental Health through the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council, completing the 12-month course while based on the south coast and studying in Sydney at Little Bay.
“It was something I wanted to get into because in small communities, there’s a crisis in drugs and mental health,” Mr Knight said.
“I’m trying to break barriers, and that was my main goal to study mental health – I’m passionate about it. I’ve seen firsthand what the effects of alcohol and drug and mental health can do.” […]
