Walking from Broken Hill to Walgett for charity

Dr Peter Hill is currently walking from Broken Hill to Walgett, with milo tin in hand to raise money for a hometown charity.

Dr Hill left Broken Hill on Sunday July 14 bound for Walgett, via Bourke.

It’s not the first time he has made such a trek, doing the same thing last year, but finishing his journey at Bourke.

“I do this is for my health,” Dr Hill said.

“I had a stroke in 2017 and I’ve slowly been learning to walk again.

“I’ve walked short distances and slowly made those distances longer. There’s a lot of therapeutic benefit in doing the long walks, but I also use the time to raise money for charity.”

Dr Hill said he prefers to help smaller, struggling charities for the money he raises.

“These smaller charities get overlooked and yet they are doing great work,” he said.[…]
