Walgett wows the crowds on huge show weekend

From jumping dogs and fire twirlers to goat pavilions and chocolate cake bake-offs, last weekend’s Walgett Show drew huge crowds, with organisers hailing the event as one of the strongest in recent years.

Walgett Show Entertainment Steward, Scott White, said the two-day event attracted an estimated crowd of more than 1,800 people including members, with visitors travelling from across western New South Wales and beyond.

“It all went extremely well, and we had a great turnout,” Mr White said. “There was so much to keep the crowd entertained and everyone had a great time.”

Sideshow alley was a major attraction for the young showgoers, with approximately 14 trucks transporting rides to Walgett, alongside food vendors, showbags and stalls.

The show program was packed with entertainment and competition, including quick shear events, lawn mower racing, horse sports, fireworks, fire performances, and the increasingly popular dog jump competition and calcutta. […]
