It’s not often a remote council gets this kind of attention, but Walgett Shire Council has landed five finalist nods at this year’s NSW Local Government Excellence Awards.

The recognition highlights a broad sweep of work across the organisation and it’s a result that General Manager Andrew Brown says reflects the reality of delivering services in a remote setting.

“This is a significant achievement for our organisation,” Mr Brown said.

“It has come from real work, often under pressure, with limited resources, and with a strong focus on simply getting things done.” […]
