The Walgett Rams pulled off an amazing 44-38 grand final win against Nyngan’s Bogan Bulls at Walgett on Saturday.

At full time the scores were locked at 32-all after both teams had scored four tries each, kicked three conversions each and two penalty goals apiece.

Walgett got away to and early lead with a try in the first 3 minutes to Ollie Stump that was converted by Grant Green.

Nyngan hit back in the 15th minute with a converted try to Bull’s fullback Iestyn Galton, before Walgett captain Charlie Friend scored two more converted tries just before half time.

Walgett scored another try two minutes into the second half through their classy winger Dillon Walford, but didn’t cross the try line again in normal time.

The Bulls then came back hard, scoring three quick tries in the 62nd, 75th and 78th minute – the last wide out on the sideline – to bring their side within two points of Walgett.

Nyngan’s bench player Mat Sheather then stepped up to the mark, and under heavy heckling from a boisterous Walgett crowd, Sheather kicked an unlikely conversion from the sideline to put the match into extra time.

Walgett then broke the hearts of the large Nyngan contingent – with Grant Green and Ollie Stump scoring a try each in extra time – with Green converting his own try,
