Walgett Shire’s General Manager resigns

At last week’s Walgett Shire Council meeting, it was announced that Council’s General Manager, Megan Dixon had resigned.
After 20 months of serving the Walgett community, Ms Dixon said she’d carefully considered her decision.
“It’s not a decision I made lightly,” Ms Dixon said. “Walgett is a fantastic, passionate community and it’s really made an impression on me during my time here.
“It has been an honour to serve as the General Manager of Walgett Shire Council. I have worked alongside a dedicated team to deliver significant outcomes for the community.”
Ms Dixon said she has received great support from staff and community since announcing her resignation.
“I’m leaving on good terms which I’m very happy about,” she said. “There is nothing underhanded going on and it is entirely my decision.”
“I am particularly proud of our achievements in securing funding for critical infrastructure projects, strengthening emergency management capabilities, and fostering strong relationships with the State Government, our community, and Walgett Shire’s First Nations peoples.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to have led the organisation with integrity and a commitment to the wellbeing of our staff and residents.
“You can never please everyone in this role, but I hope I have managed to assist the community in changes for the best.”
After the announcement was made at the council meeting, Walgett Mayor Jasen Ramien acknowledged Ms Megan Dixon’s significant contribution to Walgett Shire Council.
“On behalf of Walgett Shire Council, I extend our thanks to Megan Dixon for her service,” Councillor Ramien said.
“Throughout her time with Council, Ms Dixon has guided the organisation through five natural disasters and played a key role in securing critical funding for the Walgett swimming pool redevelopment and the Lightning Ridge Bore Line. […]
