The Walgett Art Group has marked its 25th year with a hands-on sculpture workshop that brought locals together to create a life size spoonbill bird.

Coordinator and founding member, Anne Murray said the idea began after she missed out on attending a similar community event.

“I missed a visit from sculpture artist Jobella that another community group ran here in Walgett,” Ms Murray said. “I thought I would see if we could organise something for our art group.”

Ms Murray contacted the artist, who lives near Tamworth and found she was very receptive to making another trip to Walgett. […]
