A familiar face is returning to the table at Bourke Shire Council, with Victor Bartley saying his focus remains firmly on representing the whole community as he steps back into the role of shire councillor.

Mr Bartley was recently elected to a casual vacancy through a countback process following the resignation of former councillor Maxime Nina and will be formally sworn in at the April council meeting.

Having previously served 16 years on council, Councillor Bartley said his motivation for returning was simple – to give back to the community.

“Because of my knowledge of Bourke and it’s people, and with where I’ve been and what I’ve done in life, I think I can give something back to the community,” he said.

Encouraged by friends and supported by his wife of nearly 49 years, Councillor Bartley said he felt both very fortunate and very privileged to serve once again. […]
