Vaccine cold storage failure in Bourke

Bourke residents who have been vaccinated in the last four to six weeks will have to be revaccinated due to a breach in cold storage of vaccines at Bourke’s Ochre Medical Centre

98 people will soon be receiving notification that they need to receive another vaccination after their initial vaccination was compromised.

Chief Health Officer of the Ochre health, Dr Francois Pretorius, has announced 98 people who were vaccinated in the Bourke clinic will be called back to the Medical Centre to receive another dose after the vaccination fridge malfunctioned.

“It’s come to our notice that for the last month, our vaccination fridge has stopped sending data around the temperature and temperature control,” Dr Pretorius said.

“Vaccines are very sensitive to changes in temperature, and we could not absolutely say that our fridge was at the right temperature all the time, simply because that data was not sent through. […]
