Families in remote communities whose children need specialist medical care may be even more disadvantaged as aviation fuel costs rise.
The increased cost of avgas has put immense pressure on small airlines – especially charity air services.
Little Wings provides vital transport for children in remote communities like Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightning Ridge and Walgett, who need specialist medical treatment in larger cities.
Little Wings has called for urgent, targeted funding support during the current fuel crisis, to ensure that they can continue supplying aeromedical transport services.
The Royal Far West partners with Little Wings to deliver specialist outreach clinics directly into Far West communities several times a year. Little Wings also supports about 40% of all families travelling to Royal Far West’s Centre for Country Kids in Manly, with many families relying on a weekly service to access developmental assessments and therapy.
