Tye Simmonds wins $1000 wool bale sprint by a whisker

The wool bales were rolled back into action in Bourke over the Easter weekend, with competitors and spectators turning out for one of the town’s premium Easter events.
In the big money stakes – the Men’s 50 metre Wool Bale Sprint – Bourke local, Tye Simmonds, clocked a time of 33.92 seconds to win the event with second place going to Travis Pocock who posted a time of 34.04 seconds. Sam Canty was third in a time of 34.33 seconds.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Bourke, club president, Leonie Brown said the event attracted solid participation across multiple categories, despite earlier concerns about a drop in potential visitor numbers.
“The event went very well, and it was great to have the number of teams that we had in this year’s competition,” Mrs Brown said.
“We had six in the men’s teams, five in the ladies’ teams, and then we had 10 in the men’s singles, which was great.” […]
