Two Variety Bash events for Bourke in August

The iconic Variety Bash is ready to hit the road from Renmark in South Australia and is travelling through Bourke on the way to Queensland.

The NSW contingent also has Bourke in its sights, arriving on Sunday 11 August – the day after Louth Races.

Then the SA contingent hit Bourke the next day – on Monday 12 August.

Mark McGill is CEO of the Variety Bash South Australia branch said participants are looking forward to their trek across the outback.

“After 16 months of planning, it’s really getting to the pointy end now,” Mr McGill said.

The Variety Bash is Australia’s longest running charity motoring event, with a bash in every state. The 2024 SA Variety Bash, “Go for Gold”, is fittingly heading to the Gold Coast.

“We leave Renmark on August 10 and spend the night in Broken Hill,” Mr McGill said. “Then it’s up to White Cliffs for lunch and onto Cobar. On day three we leave Cobar and head onto Bourke via Rose Isle Station near Louth.”

Mr McGill said that, along with enjoying the eclectic and colourful travellers, small towns reap the financial benefits of around 350 people spending money at local outlets. […]
