Bourke locals are being invited to see waste in a whole new light, with a hands-on workshop bringing the popular Waste 2 Art program to town this weekend.

Bourke Arts Community Inc president Kath Sneddon said the workshop, delivered through Outback Arts on May 2 from 2pm – 5pm at the Bourke Ceramics Centre gives residents over the age of ten, the chance to explore creativity using materials that might otherwise be thrown away.

“It’s fairly easy, you just bring whatever you’ve got from home,” Ms Sneddon said.

Participants are invited to transform items such as fabric scraps, ticket stubs, or small household objects into unique mixed-media artworks, with guidance provided on the day for those needing inspiration.

Ms Sneddon said she had taken part in a similar workshop herself. […]
