Tour de OROC gets Bourke Council backing

Bourke Shire Council is once again showing its support for the Tour de OROC, as plans for the annual fundraising event are underway.

Dedicated to raising money for the Macquarie Home Stay facility in Dubbo, the event, now in its 2025 iteration, will see around 40 riders and their support crew cycle through the region from October 6th to 11th.

The Tour de OROC, initiated in 2013, has raised over $660,000 for Macquarie Home Stay since its inception. This generous support is crucial for local residents, including many from Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett Shires, who rely on the facility as a “home away from home” when attending Dubbo for medical appointments or treatment.

“Macquarie Home Stay has been crucial for Bourke residents, providing much-needed accommodation when they travel to Dubbo for medical treatment,” Mrs. Brown said. “Whether it’s for extended cancer treatments, pregnancy, or emergency medical situations, the facility ensures that families don’t have to worry about accommodation costs while supporting their loved ones through difficult health challenges.” […]
