Thumbs up for Back O’Bourke Picnic Races

With just a few minor jobs to be completed, all is ready for the signature event of Back O’Bourke Easter Festival – the Back O’Bourke Picnic Race meeting, on Easter Sunday.

Race club secretary Sarah Barton and club president Frank Kerr met on Friday with NSW racing steward Todd Smith for the final approval for the meeting to go ahead – and it’s all systems go.

“The assessment of the track went well,” Sarah said.

“The rain earlier in the week has left the track looking really good. There were a few areas where we had to get some of the water off the ground and that’s drying off nicely.

“There are a few rocks on the track, so we’re holding a working bee during the week to get the stones off the surface so it’s safe for horses and jockeys.
