Three cheers for SES volunteers!

Joshua Clarke, Superintendent of the Western Zone State Emergency Service was in Bourke on Saturday, presenting well deserved awards to dedicated local volunteers.
A “momentous day” was Supt Clarke’s description of the occasion, as he and other high ranking State Emergency Service officials came to Bourke to take part in the award ceremony for the Upper West Region.
State Emergency Services members from Bourke, Goodooga, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Cobar, and Brewarrina all came together for the event.
“Several local SES members were recognised for their many years of unwavering service on the SES,” Supt Clarke said.
Chief amongst the awards were two 40-year long service award that went to Steve Walsh of Bourke and to Noel Cooper from the Brewarrina Unit of SES.
Supt Clarke said that there were few people who could say that they’ve been in a job for 40 years these days.
“This is a massive amount of time to dedicate as a volunteer and I am so proud of the long and valuable service provided by Steve Walsh and Noel Cooper,” he said.
Other SES volunteers were recognised for their 10, 15, 25 and 30-year periods of service – including Karen Keuning of Bourke and Hugh Warnock from Carinda, while Les Macleod of Bourke was recognised for his 25 years of service.
Award recipients for 15 years of service went to Belinda Colless of Brewarrina, Lee Hughston of Wanaaring, and to Ben Walsh, Les Harding, and Ross Campbell all of Bourke. […]
