The Walgett show is early this year

The 85th Walgett Show has been bought forward by a month this year, meaning it’s not as long to wait and experience everything the committee has pulled together for showgoers.

President of the Walgett Show Society David Berrell, said the committee were just tidying up a few loose ends, but it would be all systems go for the 6th and 7th April.

“We brought the show forward a month this year, just to try and get away from the busy planning period in May and hopefully all goes well,” he said.

The Walgett Show camp draft starts on Friday, 5 April to get through all the events, but the Walgett Show itself, is on for two big days on the April 6 and 7.

Mr Berrell said that the major attraction this year for all the young people is that Bluey and Bingo will turning up for the first time ever and ‘we’re excited about that’.

There’s plenty of other entertainment for the kids, including fairies, a helicopter lolly drops, and reptile shows. Adults haven’t been left out either.

“We’ve got professional wrestlers from All Star Wrestling coming this year,” Mr Berrell said. “We also have a new event, which is a meat smoking competition, with up to $4,000 in prize money.” […‘
