The star attraction of Bourke’s tourism showcase is back – the Jandra paddle boat is once again cruising the Darling River.

Bourke Shire Council’s Manager of Corporate Services Leonie Brown said river levels had dropped sufficiently to allow the Jandra to get back into operation.

Tours had to cease when floodwaters rose above six metres, which meant the Jandra could not safely navigate under the North Bourke Bridge and access to the boat for visitors and staff was considered too risky.

“It’s great to have the Jandra back in operation and the passenger numbers have been excellent,” Mrs Brown said

“We’ve had a very successful tourism season and obviously the Jandra is a big part of that.
