The Country Education Foundation — CEF Walgett celebrates a decade of opportunities

The Country Education Foundation of Walgett has marked another successful year of supporting young people across the shire, holding its 2026 Grants presentation and student stories evening at the Walgett Sporting Club on Friday, 5 December.

New Chairperson of Walgett’s CEF, Anna Wilson, said the local foundation plays a crucial role in helping rural students overcome the financial barriers that often prevent them from pursuing further education and training.

“CEF Walgett is one of 48 local foundations working within the protocols of the wonderful team at CEF Australia based in Orange,” she said.

“The organisation began around a kitchen table in Boorowa over 30 years ago, after recognising how young people from the bush are seriously disadvantaged when it comes to tertiary education.” […]
