Back O’Bourke Riders are joining the Black Dog Ride, raising money for mental health.

The fund-raising ride will take place on Saturday and Sunday 15 and 16 March, with the Back O’Bourke Riders extending the Black Dog Ride 1 Dayer to the entire weekend.

Bourke businessman Aaron Marsh, a member of the Back O’Bourke Riders group, said the group comprises like-minded people that love riding.

Aaron originally came from New Zealand and has a military background which included multiple overseas service.

After suffering a serious accident in 2006, he left the mines in Cobar and moved to Bourke with his partner Tracey where they took up a business opportunity and developed Crossroads Tyre Service.

Aaron March was one of the founders of the Bourke riders and describes himself as a “long rider” preferring to go on longer trips, and quite often solo.

“It’s why I love Bourke, I don’t like crowds or cities,” he said.

“In October 2024 in The Black Dog Ride, Long Ride Home, I covered 10,862 kilometres in approximately two weeks.

“We’re a club that likes to go riding socially on a weekend or we plan a trip. Last year we rode over to Broken Hill in August, met at Silverton and had a wonderful weekend, just socialising and riding around.” (…)
