Taking a shot at the new gun laws

Every May the Brewarrina Clay Target Club holds the Barwon and District Clay Target Championships.

Led by President Dallas Codrington, the event has been running for 40 years.

This year, 87 shooters attended the two-day event on 2-3 May, with shooters from Bendigo, Richmond River, Cunnamulla, St George, Charleville, Warren, Orange and Melbourne. Some have been attending for up to 15 years, including Hall of Fame shooter Bill Iles from Melbourne.

When approximately 100 people come to a small town like Brewarrina for up to a week, the RSL, local restaurants and cafés also see economic benefits.
