Successful cotton harvest across Bourke, Bre and Walgett

As the last of the cotton pickers roll across the paddocks of Brewarrina, Bourke and Walgett, growers are reporting a strong finish to the 2025 season – despite the challenges posed by rain in some areas.
Local cotton farm manager Nathan Morton, who farms with the Harris family at Rumleigh near Brewarrina, said his operation had now wrapped up harvest across 600 hectares of cotton, with pleasing results.
“We averaged around 14 bales per hectare, which we’re very happy with,” Nathan said. “For the input costs we managed, it’s a solid result.”
“We’ve also had a 15-bale average on one of our better farms back towards Bourke – and that’s well above average.” […]
