State government calls off Louth Weir meeting

The state government called off a ‘consultation’ meeting in Louth this week, where reps from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), were due to talk to Louth locals about changes to the Louth Weir.

In a statement issued to 2WEB and The Western Herald on Friday, a spokesperson for the DCCEEW said they had “heard clearly from the community that the next time we meet they would like to see other design options for the weirs at Louth, Banarway and Calmundi’.

“We appreciate the ongoing advice and input from the community which is why we are delaying our 29 May community meeting on the Fish Passage project to a later date when we are in a better position to progress design options,” the statement said. […]
