From bowls to golf, tennis and netball, sport is making a strong comeback in Walgett, with the Walgett Sporting Club leading a quiet but significant sporting revival across the town.

Walgett Sporting Club president Donald Morgan said the turnaround had gathered momentum in recent months, with facilities coming back to life and participation on the rise.

“It’s come together in leaps and bounds,” Mr Morgan said.

“At first it was a long process, but in the last couple of months it’s really come into its own.”

At the centre of that resurgence is the return of lawn bowls, with the club’s greens restored after years of limited use. […]
