Walgett has been left reeling after a shocking overnight attack saw a locum doctor held at knifepoint and their vehicle stolen during a home invasion at a Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service (WAMS) residence on the night of Thursday 19 June.

The violent incident forced the closure of Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service GP Clinic last Friday 20 June, leaving the community temporarily without critical healthcare services.

The organisation has publicly condemned the attack, stating that it not only endangered a valued healthcare worker but also left the entire community vulnerable. […]
