Bourke’s newest, and youngest radio personality, Shaunee Elwood, is looking forward to being behind the microphone on 2WEB.

Shaunee has begun training at Outback Radio 2WEB with local announcer Chris Dover.

An eleven-year-old year 7 student at Bourke High School, the normally shy Shaunee likes to talk on the radio especially when it’s time to do the station call sign followed by her name.

She said that working on the radio boosted her confidence and provided valuable lessons in communication.

Making the rest of the kids in her family a little jealous is a side bonus of her radio presence, she says with a shy grin.

Always keen on the idea of radio, she jumped at the opportunity presented by the Bourke SPIRIT program to undertake a school holiday radio workshop offered at 2WEB.

Developing a career in radio is her dream with plans to attend radio school when she completes high school and she would like to become an announcer, like Chris.
