Rural students step into healthcare careers with CWA support

Fourteen students from across the Barwon region have received a welcome boost toward their healthcare studies, sharing in $35,000 of Country Women’s Association Barwon Group Medical Grants for 2025.

The grants are made possible through the generosity of dozens of local sponsors and help students from Burren Junction, Collarenebri, Goodooga/Lightning Ridge, Pilliga, Rowena, Walgett and Wee Waa continue their health-related studies and stay connected to their rural communities.

CWA Barwon Group Medical Grants Convenor Jocelyn Cameron said the program continues to grow thanks to strong community support.

“This grant is making a real difference by supporting local students in their studies and encouraging them to return to our communities as future healthcare professionals. Our sponsors’ support isn’t just an investment in education, it’s an investment in the health and future of rural communities,” she said. […]
