Rugby Union — Bourke Ewes defeat Gular in first match of 2023 season

The Bourke Ewes kicked off the 2023 season this week with a wet home game against Gular.

The game commenced with a display of skilful footy, leading to Danielle Bona scoring the first try of the season.

The second quarter saw Alana Coxhead follow through with a gallant effort and another five points on the scoreboard.

The Ewes conceded one try in the third quarter, followed by a quick comeback try by Sophie Bowden.

Jodie Sontag was rewarded with a try in the last quarter with the final score 20-5 to the Ewes.

This week’s Player’s Player went to Danielle Bona, as did the three points. Ella Henson gained two points and Alana Coxhead received 1 point.

It was a great game and the girls played so well in the rain and mud!

The team is looking forwarded to travelling to Warren next week.
