One of Bourke’s favourite sons, Ronny Gibbs, marks the 30th anniversary of his gift to his hometown, and the generations of kids who followed in his footsteps.

The Ronny Gibbs Sevens tournament will mark three decades of empowering young people through sport when the 2026 event opens in Bourke on Monday 24 August.

Over the course of the following three days, more than 500 children will take part in the event, with a gala dinner wrapping up the tournament on Thursday 27 August, followed by a trip around the district for special visiting guests on Friday 28 August.

This year, Ronny hopes to make the tournament the biggest yet and is reaching out to businesses and organisations across the Far West to support the initiative through sponsorship, donations and advertising. […]
