River of Dreams opens in Bourke CBD

“Shutters up!” – that’s the motto of Judy Hungerford who has just opened River of Dreams, a new clothing and homewares shop in the Bourke CBD.

Judy has purchased the old Setch Clothing Store building and given it a good facelift and completely restocked the store.

“I previously ran a shop in Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River, just before Covid hit,” Judy said.

“I took it over in 2019, but I closed it at the end of the same year as I couldn’t secure the lease. Two years ago, I decided to put the business online, and operated in that way.”

“When this opportunity arose in Bourke, I just saw the need for a clothing and gift store in the town.

“Walking down the main street, seeing those shutters down on shops was really depressing.”

Judy initially moved to Bourke to run the Mitchell Caravan Park and quickly saw further opportunities.

“A lot of clients coming into the caravan park were walking down the main street and seeing all the shutters down on closed shops and it just inspired me to do something,” she said.

“Because I already had the online shop, it was a perfect and smooth integration to open up River of Dreams with a Bourke shopfront.”

“We have a really big range of clothes and shoes and are expanding on what we offer, this is just the beginning. […]
