Rising star Ronald Simpson takes out sporting award at Bre

Homegrown jockey Ronald Simpson is Bre’s Sportsperson of the year after a stellar year on the track.

Mayor of Brewarrina Shire Vivian Slack-Smith said that she was proud to announce that Ronald had been unanimously confirmed as Bre’s Sportsperson of the Year.

“Ronnie spoke brilliantly at the Bre Australia Day ceremony explaining his rise to fame in the racing industry,” Councillor Slack-Smith said.

“He told me he had ridden about one hundred winners and yet he is a very humble young man who recognises his ties to family and mates and the Brewarrina community.

“He is a doting father and an inspiration to everyone. Congratulations Ronnie,” Clr Slack Smith said.

Ronald Simpson was also the Australia Day Ambassador to Brewarrina and gave the Australia Day address.
