Would you like to help revive the Bourke Community Choir?
In its early days the Bourke community choir boasted about fifteen members who met each week developed a large and varied repertoire.
As with many community organisations, the membership fluctuated over time but remained at an average of a dozen or so.
However the choir was hit with a double whammy with COVID restrictions followed by the departure from Bourke of three families meaning a reduction of five, and another stalwart on transfer making it six.
By virtue of a grant, the choir acquired an elaborate console, six microphones with stands, two large speakers and two foldback speakers.
Over time the choir also compiled several folders of backing tracks.
Cec Dorrington has been ‘caretaking’ all these possessions and would like to revive the choir.
To gauge whether the Bourke Choir can be revived, Cec is appealing to anyone interested in becoming a choir member to get in touch as soon as possible.
Cec would appreciate hearing from anyone who can join the choir in leading the singing this Anzac Day.
The only qualification needed to join the choir is that you enjoy singing.
If you wish to participate in reviving the Bourke Community Choir please contact Cec Dorrington on 0407103428.
