Retiring Walgett Shire Councillors recognised
Current Walgett Shire councillors attended their last ordinary meeting of Walgett Shire Council on Tuesday 27 August, at the Walgett Shire Council Chambers.
General Manager Megan Dixon said that the meeting provided an opportunity to thank outgoing councillors for their service to the community.
“Being a Councillor can be a thankless job, and we wanted to recognise the contributions of councillors who are retiring and not renominating for election,” Ms Dixon said.
“The contributions of these councillors – Ian Woodcock, Sue Currey and Colin Hundy – have now been recognised in a formal way, and we owe our thanks to them all for the time and effort they have given over the years.”
The meeting was the last meeting for these Walgett’s councillors.
“For those that may not be aware Councillors Woodcock, Currey and Hundy are retiring,” Ms Dixon said.
“Councillor Ian Woodcock became a Councillor back in 1987 and has served on Walgett Council since then, include several terms as Mayor of the Walgett Shire. That is an impressive contribution to our community. […]
