The Outback community is set to rally behind a major fundraising event on Saturday 19 July, with the Bourke Rotary Club and 2WEB joining forces to host a live radiothon and auction in support of Macquarie Home Stay in Dubbo.
The full-day event, running from 8am to 5pm, will broadcast live from 2WEB’s Bourke studios and is aiming to raise significant funds to support the vital regional accommodation service provided by Macquarie Home Stay.
The auction will be broadcast across the region, with items available for bidding both on-air and online, creating widespread access to support the cause.
Bourke Rotary Club President Leonie Brown said the fundraiser is a return to a highly successful format the town hasn’t seen for many years.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve done a radio auction, but in the past, they’ve been incredibly successful,” she said. “Previously, we reached more than 80,000 listeners and raised around $50,000. This year, I’d love to double that.”
The Radiothon and Radio Auction is on Saturday 19th July from 8am to 5pm – on Outback Radio 2WEB – 585 on your AM dial, and through FM services at Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonamble, Nyngan and Wilcannia.
