Quokkas bring music, laughter, and inclusion

Children in Bourke have been treated to a lively performance of music, dancing, and laughter as popular Australian children’s band The Quokkas returned to western NSW for another regional tour.
The band, known for its catchy original songs and powerful messages of inclusion, has been travelling through regional communities with the support of CatholicCare Wilcannia-Forbes, bringing live entertainment to children who might otherwise have limited opportunities to experience professional children’s music performances.
Speaking during their visit to Bourke and Walgett, band members Nick Gill and Matt McLaren said returning to the region had been a highlight of their year.
“We did a smaller version of this show last year to see how it went. It was such a success and absolutely filled our cups,” Matt said.
The tour has included performances in Narromine, Nyngan, Cobar, and Bourke, with further shows planned for Walgett and Tamworth.
Nick said the opportunity to bring live music to children in smaller communities was rewarding.[…]
