Police honours recognise dedication

The dedication, courage and professionalism of police officers serving outback communities were celebrated in Walgett last week during the annual Central North Police District Awards Ceremony.

Central North Police District covers the Walgett, Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar, and Bogan Shires, and this event recognised officers and staff from across the district for their service, bravery, and commitment to the communities they serve.

The ceremony attracted some of the most senior NSW Police, including Commissioner Mal Lanyon, Deputy Commissioner Paul Pisanos and Western Region Commander Assistant Commissioner Andy Holland.

Central North District Commander, Superintendent Gerard Lawson said their attendance was greatly appreciated.

“It was fantastic seeing them make that effort to come and see us,” he said.

In his address, Superintendent Lawson said the district was served by officers of exceptional character, dedication and spirit.

“Our command spans nearly a quarter of the State of NSW and encompasses some of the most remote and resilient communities in the nation,” he said. […]
