The rugby league season still has plenty of life in it across the western region, with a hugely successful event at Davidson Oval in Bourke at the weekend. The Bourke Hot Nines event drew a strong local crowd and some exceptional players in the teams battling it out on the field.
The Bourke Nines is an annual rugby league nines tournament held every year in Bourke. The games are a modified version of rugby league, with nine players per side instead of the usual 13.
The games are shorter, fast-paced and exciting, and on Saturday, players showed their depth of skill across the competition.
There were six men’s teams and three women’s teams in the Bourke competition.
In the final, the Lynn Orcher Memorial team defeated the Blackfit Warriors, and in the women’s competition the All Stars defeated Lynn Orcher memorial team. Congratulations to organisers. Sponsors and players for another exciting display of Bourke’s football talent. […]
