Plans for a Community Garden at Brewarrina

Encouraged by the success of the Bourke community garden, the Brewarrina Local Aboriginal Land Council has put it’s hand up to investigate a similar community garden in Brewarrina.

Bre LALC’s Acting CEO Urayne Warraweena travelled to Bourke last week to meet with Ross Pettit from the Community Greening team at Sydney Botanical Gardens and Gavin Gibbs from REDI.E to discuss the options for Brewarrina.

Ms Warraweena said that the Bre LALC was in the process of creating a community hub, including a veggie garden.

“A community garden is one of those things we wanted to put in, but we’re really struggling to get it up and running,” Ms Warraweena said.

“I went over to Bourke and connected with Phi Pettitt and Gavin Gibbs from REDI.E, and the Bourke boys are willing to come over to Bre and help us out and Phil will help us as well. […]
