The sight of cyclists rolling through Brewarrina, Bourke, and Walgett last week drew cheers and waves from locals as the 2025 Tour de OROC made its way across the west.

The event once again combined endurance, generosity, and community spirit to raise funds for Macquarie Home Stay, the Dubbo-based accommodation service that provides a home away from home for regional patients and their families undergoing medical treatment.

More than 35 riders took part in this year’s challenge, covering around 1,100 kilometres over six days as they left Dubbo and cycled through regional towns including Coonamble, Brewarrina, Bourke, Warren, Nyngan, Cobar, and Walgett.

At each location, riders and support crew were greeted with enthusiasm, some local food and accommodation and even a tour of the sights.

“We spent more time in the towns along the way this year,” Tour de OROC founder and committee member Matthew Dickerson said.

“Instead of just riding straight through, it gave the riders a chance to actually see the communities they’re supporting, meet locals, and understand the impact Macquarie Home Stay has on real families.” […]
