Outrage at station horse deaths

The accidental shooting of five domestic horses at Thurloo Downs Station during an aerial cull has left a local family devastated and highlighted the conflict regarding national park management. The horses were shot during a NSW National Parks and Wildlife pest species cull on September 26 and the incident was confirmed by Environment Minister Penny Sharpe.
The domestic and privately owned horses were shot and killed on Thurloo Downs Station, a 5,000-square-kilometre former pastoral property north-west of Bourke that is in the process of being converted into a national park.
Bourke Shire Mayor Lachie Ford said the incident had caused immense distress for the family involved.
“I think the fact that someone’s pets essentially have been shot within a kilometre of their homestead, on their private property, is just devastating,” he said.
“These were horses the family had raised and cared for. They moved them to that block to protect them right before the shoot.
“The family involved have been pretty hurt by the comments coming back out of the Minister for the Environment’s office, essentially nearly blaming them.”
Cr Ford said the event highlighted the challenges that come from trying to manage a large-scale rural property. […]

disgustingly cruel and totally irresponsible..they were on their own propoerty and were there for protection.of course Penny Sharpe would shrug this of ..she's not one for telling the truth and taking responsibility..she should be removed from her position..she's a cold hearted callous horse murderer and a compulsive liar
