Outback Easter delivers crowds, colour and community

From packed caravan parks and markets to colour-covered runners and wool bales rolling down the street, Easter 2026 has delivered a strong show of community spirit, visitors and classic outback events.

Across Bourke, Lightning Ridge, Walgett and Brewarrina, thousands turned out for a packed calendar of festivals, races, sport and family-friendly activities.

In Lightning Ridge, the Lightning Ridge Easter Festival drew visitors from across the country, with accommodation booked strongly and enthusiastic crowds at major events.

Organisers reported cabins and motels full, and caravan parks operating at up to 90 to 95 per cent capacity, with visitors travelling from across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. […]
